The CDS extractor is a web based application to extract cds data
from the ncbi databases. The usage is quite simple: You have a web
interface where you can enter the data of interest
You can enter following data
Gene Name |
A name of a gene |
Email |
Your (or an) email address provided fpr ncbi |
Phylogroups |
The phylogenetic groups of interest. You may select one or
more organism / species. You can also select a group or
deselect a group, which includes select or deselet all spcies
which are inside the group. A group has an arrow to the left,
where you can open or close the group content. A group can
have sub groups, too. On the right side there is a minus /
plus button. That means to deslect or select all members in a
group.

After you enter and submit the request by clicking on "OK" you get a
note: "Start Request...". The next step is looking for a so called
"free slot" on an application server where the process will be
executed. The second step is when there is no slot free: you
"Server is busy! Waiting..." that means there will a delay for a
short time and the excution will be restarted. If the proces
started you get "Starting calculation - Please wait...". In general
you have to wait for a short time - DON'T CLOSE the brwoser now or
switch to anther web page! This waiting time may be seconds - up to
around 1 minute. When the request is finished you get a note
"Result is generated" - along with a butoon where you can download
the result fasta file. That is all! The generated data will not be
stored anywhere on a server! So you have to store the data locally
on your own computer :)
